Hello world!

Published December 31, 2011 by trilibrarian

The given title is good enough for now.  Hello world.  This is my third blog attempt.  The first got some followers and was decent  for a while.  Then I got a new job and was warned to be careful about anything I said online, so I let that blog go stagnant.  The second never went beyond the first post.

As we embark on a new year, I’m going to make one more attempt.  This time I’m using a pseudonym.  I created an email account just for this blog.  This is for me.  I would love to gain some followers, but I’m going to write for myself.  My earlier attempt was written with the reader always in mind.  Of course the reader should be in mind when writing, but I found it limiting when it was always about the reader.

I should tell you a little about myself so you understand my perspective.  I am an elementary school librarian and mother of two older teenagers.  My life has centered around other people’s needs/wants for the past 25 years and I’ve finally decided that 2012 is going to be my year.  I signed up for a triathalon and a half marathon.  No.  I am not a jock.  In fact, I am about 10 pounds overweight and 25 pounds over my preferred weight. Hopefully, that will change over the course of this year, but even if it doesn’t, I’ll be satisfied if I complete my events. Did I mention that I don’t know how to swim well? And I’m afraid of riding my bike in a crowd? Yeah, this is going to be fun.

I think I’ve always secretly wanted to be a jock, but growing up in the 1970’s there weren’t very many opportunities for girls.  There was softball.  And  – softball.  For a nearsighted girl without glasses, that was a recipe for disaster.

This blog is going to be about my training efforts and things related to school libraries.  If you happen to be a librarian athlete, you may be interested.  If you are neither, well, the you’ll probably be bored.
